Props to @bram for deviating on his sound! Some notes though:
- That intro is just too long, i am afraid. I know, some tracks do this ''extended intro'' thing and carrying it to 35 to a full minute before setting off but i never have had the impression on any of those tracks that it ''adds'' to the track. Unfortunately, Regret's introduction falls in the same bracket.
- When the intro does set off to the main kick, there is no big build up to it - You just go straight from intro to main kick/bassline. This is something that is more prominent in a trance production, but this is a hands up production. Come to think of it, the intro does feel more suited to an uplifting trance piece aswell.
- Melody is pretty cool and so is the subtle sub-beat just right after the snare (For lack of a better word) . Does work well here.
- Last part (3.55) shows a new element in your repertoire: Some kind of electro infused feel? I think its admirable that you are attempting to mix sounds from other genres in this, but, like the extended intro, i don't feel its ''quite there''.
Conclusion:
8/10 for the melody and the layers there, 8.5/10 for the originality, but 6/10 for the introduction and the ending. Good ideas, good melody, but not all has the same execution as the melody part does.
This is good however, because it allows for improvement I for one very much appreciate your out-of-the-box thinking with tracks like these.
